Now serving Athens, Meigs, and Vinton County The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) formerly housed in Athens, Meigs, and Vinton is now served through the Portsmouth office by Diane Boster, the region's Project Director.

Arrangements are being made to have a program representative on hand to meet with individuals in their local counties on designated days. For more information on where and when, please contact the Portsmouth office.

Diane has been with Mature Services, Inc., since 2007 and has been working with local businesses that are interested in hiring older workers.

Walker Stewart

When Walker Stewart had to make a decision about where to intern, he picked the Portsmouth office and hasn't looked back since. "It has definitely been a lot different than I expected," said Walker. "It's not the typical making copies and coffee type of internship. They have given me a lot of responsibility which is great, and I really feel like I am learning quite a bit here."

Among his assignments, Walker was asked to interview participants in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) to see how they have done, and we have him to thank for the great stories above, and in the current Opportunity Knocks from the Portsmouth region. In addition to his writing, he spent time helping trainees work on their resumes and handled other tasks.

Walker came to us from Shawnee State University, where he is a 21 year-old Senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Social Work. When he graduates in May 2012 he plans to go on and get a Master's degree in Social Work and apply his training in either a Geriatric or Mental Health environment.
