Homecare Services


The Homecare Department provides three services:

 

Homemakers

Home Health Aides

Chore service

 

do light housecleaning and
laundry, grocery shopping and
meal preparation. They visit
clients to do the needed
tasks as assigned.

 

 

do personal care, such as bathing
and grooming clients. Home Health
Aides must have pre-service training
and pass a certification exam. They are
required to have eight hours of
in-service training a year.

 

provides heavy housecleaning,
such as window and wall washing,
carpet shampooing, and extensive
kitchen and bathroom cleaning. Clients
are usually served once per year.

 

Homcare Services

*Last year Homemakers and Home Health Aides
served 195 clients with 26,975 hours of in-home care.




Free Homecare Services are Available!

Families meeting the following guidelines may
qualify for free homemaker and/or chore services:

- Live in Summit County
- An adult in the home is disabled and needs household help.
- A minor child lives in the home
- Household income meets program income eligibility guidelines.
  (For a family of four that is income up to $3442 a month.)

Chore Service

 

These services are funded by Summit County Department of Job and Family Services (Title XX), the Area
Agency on Aging (PASSPORT, Care Co-ordination) and the City of Akron (Community Development).

United Way also provides some funds for emergency services as well as supplemental funding.
